Vern Hyde Scholarship: a $3,000 scholarship awarded to a student who demonstrates strong leadership, volunteerism and community involvement.  Membership is required

Legacy Scholarship:  3 – $2,000 scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate strong alignment with CWCU Foundations’s values, including community involvement, financial literacy, empowering youth and advocacy for human rights.  No membership required

The University of Michigan Club Of Grand Rapids is pleased to continue in its long tradition of providing 4 years of scholarship funding to students from West Michigan attending the University of Michigan. The Grand Rapids Club has the largest scholarship program of any regional UM alumni clubs in the country.

Many scholarship opportunities are being offered through the Amercan Legion: 

William D. & Jewell Brewer Scholarship
A $500 scholarship designed for Michigan residents who are high school
seniors or college students with no bachelor’s degree. Must be a son,
daughter, grandchild or great grandchild of a war-time veteran planning to
or are attending any national accredited college or university in the fall.
Minimum scholastic GPA of 2.5

Legacy Scholarship
This is needs based scholarship provides up to $20,000 and is open to
children of post 9/11 veterans who died on active duty or those who have
a combined VA disability rating of 50% or greater.

$2,000 scholarship for applicants who are pursuing training in a certified,
trade, professional or technical program, or a two year or four year degree

Post 459 Dixie Vincent Memorial Scholarship – this $1,000 scholarship is being presented in honor of Club Manager and true patriot, Dixie Vincent.  Eligiblility:  Any high school senior enrolled in a Kent County High School and a descendant of a U.S. veteran; any Kent County High School Senior who is in a high school military-related training program such as JROTC, Sea Cadets, Young Marines and other similar programs.  Students in such military-related training programs do not need to be a descendant of a U.S. veteran.  Deadline is May 6, 2026 by Midnight.  Application is available in the School Counseling office.

The Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) has launched its annual scholarship competition for the 2026-27 school year.  This year, 15 scholarships of $3,500 will be awarded to those current high school seniors who are dependent children of owners and full-time employees who have been employed at a member business as of January 1, 2025 or employees who are also full-time students who have been employed at a member business as of July 1, 2025.  Awards are not based on financial need.  Application deadline is April 1, 2026.  For more information click HERE

Treadstone’s Hustle and Heart Scholarship was created to support the next wave of young leaders in our community. Applications are open now through March 31, 2026. There will be five $5,000 scholarships awarded to individuals ages 17–19. The funds are for flexible use—tuition, trade programs, launching a small business, even basic living costs.  Click HERE to apply.

BECOME A BURGER KING SCHOLAR with the Burger King Scholars Program

THE PANTHERA EDGE JIM BROWN AND KATHERINE BROWN SCHOLARSHIP TO MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY – this scholarship opportunity is for those seniors who will be graduating in the Spring of 2026 and have been accepted at a Mchigan State University.  Application can be found in the West Catholic School Counseling Office.   Deadline is March 31, 2026.

MARY JANE DOCKERAY SCHOLARSHIP – The Mary Jane Dockeray Scholarship is sponsored by the Regional Math and Science Center under CLAS Center for Experiential Learning at Grand Valley State University. This is a named scholarship honoring the legacy of Mary Jane Dockeray (1927-2020), founding curator of the Blandford Nature Center in Grand Rapids.

Each year, the Mary Jane Dockeray Scholarships are awarded to seniors graduating from a public or private school in Kent, Muskegon, and Ottawa Intermediate School Districts with an interest in pursuing a career in science. Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded this year to graduating seniors who plan to pursue a career in science!  Click HERE for application and information.
