Bus Driver - School Transportation
West Catholic High School is looking to hire a School Transportation Bus Driver for 20+ hours/week during the school year (mostly morning/afternoon school hours, but some hours may be available for events during evenings and weekends).
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport high school and elementary students to and from school or school-related activities following a set route and schedule
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation
- Conduct van pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure it is in good working condition
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations
- Maintain a clean and organized van interior
- Promote the mission-centered work of the schools in daily interactsion with students, coworkers, parents/guardians and members of the community
Qualifications:
- Maintain a valid State of Michigan CDL
Requirements:
- Ability to positive communication to students and parents
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Complete required training for school bus drivers
- Pass a background check, drug screening and DOT physical; submit to random drug and alcohol tests and in-vehicle monitoring to ensure safe driving
Paid training and starts at $21/hr. Part-time employee health benefits are available.
Position eligible for current part-time employee tuition discount of 33% after one year of service for students attending West Catholic High School or Catholic Central High School.

Van Driver - School Transportation

- Desire to support Grand Rapids Catholic Schools’ students through imiplementating shorter and more direct routes, enabling more sleep and study time
- Ability to provide positive communication to students and parents
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
Requirements:
- Complete required training for school van drivers (~12 hours)
- Pass a background check, drug screening and physical
- Submit to random drug and alcohol tests and in-vehicle monitoring to ensure safe driving

2nd-Shift Custodian
West Catholic High School is looking to fill a full-time 2nd shift (3-11 p.m.) custodial position.
- Responsible for providing a clean and healthy environment for staff and students
- Duties include classroom and restroom cleaning, event setup and teardown, trash removal and other custodial duties assigned
- Previous custodial/janitorial experience preferred
- Experience stripping and waxing hard floors and carpet extraction preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and meet other physical requirements of the job

Food Service Assistant
West Catholic High School is looking for a part-time (25 hours per week) Food Service Assistant to work at Holy Trinity Catholic School. The position is scheduled five days a week 9 a.m.-1 p.m., during the school year (mid-August through the first week in June).
The following are characteristics of an ideal candidate:
- General knowledge and understanding of nutrition
- Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and other personnel
- Excellent organizational skills and able to respond and adapt when necessary
- Dependable, with experience working in facilities utilizing quantity food production methods
- Practicing Catholic preferred
Essential tasks performed:
- Prepares food items according to standardized recipes and directions
- Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Learn the Point of Sale program, maintains students’ lunch accounts
- Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests, students, and co-workers
- Food preparation according to written and oral instructions
- Ability to work independently, or with others, in a close, fast-paced environment and the ability to address customers in a pleasant, courteous manner
- Physical requirements include walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to be exposed to chemicals. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.

School Transportation Supervisor
The School Transportation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and timely transportation of students to and from school, extracurricular activities and other events. The supervisor manages a team of bus and van drivers while ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state and federal transportation regulations. This role requires a strong innovative operational leader with a commitment ot student safety, continuous improvement and mission-centered service to employees, students and families.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day-to-day transportation operations
- Interview, hire, train and evaluate transportation employees
- Schedule drivers and monitor attendance, absences and coverage
- Coordinate routing for daily transportation, co-curricular and extra trips
- Analyze operational data for program evaluation and improvement
- Respond to and resolve parent/guardian concerns and incoming calls with professionalism
- Work closely with school administrators to manage student behavior on school vehicles
- Prepare and submit reports as required while maintaining compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
- Ensure vehicle prechecks are performed at the beginning shift before departure
- Develop and enforce safety procedures and training for drivers based on best practices
- Maintain necessary records, such as vehicle maintenance, mileage, inspections and driver compliance standards
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
Qualifications:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation Management, Logistics or related field preferred
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (or ability to obtain within the first six (6) months)
- Three (3) years of experience in transportation operations, including supervisory experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Pupil Transportation laws, regulations and best practices
- Experience with routing software, GPS tracking systems and transportation scheduling tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Working knowledge of school operations and student support services
- Demonstrated ability to manage fleet maintenance and vehicle safety inspections
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and emergencies as needed
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, evaluate and support employee performance
