We are proud to announce that West Catholic was named a Platinum Member of the 2024 AP School Honor Roll! College Board’s AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose Advanced Placement (AP) programs are delivering results and broadening access for students.
Schools can earn the Honor Roll recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to providing opportunities for students to earn college credit and maximize college readiness. Qualification for the AP Honor Roll is based on the school’s graduating class’ achievements during high school: 40% or more must have taken at least one AP Exam, 25% or more must have scored 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, and at least 2% must have taken five or more AP Exams (at least one of those exams must have been taken in 9th or 10th grade so that students are spreading their AP experience across grades).
The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. West Catholic was named a Platinum Member – the highest ranking a school can receive – representing the top 6% of eligible schools. Fewer than 1,000 schools across the United States (including US territories) and Canada earn this prestigious honor.
During the 2023-24 school year, 223 West Catholic students enrolled in one or more of the 19 AP courses the school offers. In total, 404 AP exams were taken this past spring resulting in the following achievements:
- 31 AP Scholars (students scoring 3 or higher on three or more exams)
- 13 AP Scholars with Honors (students scoring an average of 3.25 or higher on all AP exams and 3 or higher on four or more exams)
- 12 AP Scholars with Distinction (students scoring an average of 3.5 or higher on all AP exams and 3 or higher on five or more exams)
- More students scored 3 or higher on their exams than any other year in the past five years
These successes are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers and staff. It’s an honor to be able to provide a dynamic, excellence-driven Catholic education to all who attend West Catholic.
