Scholarship Deadline
Our goal is to provide a dynamic, excellence-driven Catholic education to all who wish to receive one, regardless of their financial situation. Aquinas College Partnership
West Catholic is thrilled to announce a new direct admission partnership with Aquinas College. This guarantees admission for students who meet the GPA requirement, starting with the Class of 2026. Seniors and their parents/guardians received an email with full details last week. For more on this exciting announcement, CLICK HERE.
Falcon Awards Night Nominations
Each year, West Catholic presents four awards to outstanding individuals who have made an impact on the school and the broader WC community. These individuals may be alumni, staff members, parents/guardians, board members or other stakeholders who have a tie to West. We encourage you to nominate anyone you believe deserves this prestigious recognition. To learn more about each award and to submit a nomination, please CLICK HERE. Nominations are due by Feb. 28.
FIRST-SEMESTER EXAMS INFO
Students will be taking first-semester final exams Dec. 16-19. Please see below for a full schedule of the week and other important information. Note: There will not be a Day of Engagement prior to Christmas Break this year.
Exam Week Schedule
Monday, Dec. 15 – Full Day, Pomodoro Schedule
Tuesday, Dec. 16 – 1st & 2nd-Hour Exams
Wednesday, Dec. 17 – 3rd & 4th-Hour Exams
Thursday, Dec. 18 – 5th & 6th-Hour Exams
Friday, Dec. 19 – 7th-Hour & Make-up Exams
Students who have a study hall in their schedule during one of the exam times are required to be in attendance for that hour’s exam.
Accommodations:The start time for each testing day is 9 a.m. The end time for exams is 11:45 a.m. Students receiving accommodations should note modified times with Academic Support teachers.
Transportation: Buses and vans will run in the morning at their regularly scheduled times, but there will not be transportation home in the afternoon. Please plan accordingly.
Food Service: Food service will be available throughout exam week. On testing days, breakfast will be served from 7-9 a.m., snacks may be purchased à la carte from 10:15-10:30 a.m., and grab-and-go meals will be available from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
EVENTS
Christmas Craft Show
Join us for our annual Christmas Craft Show on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This is a must-attend event for every holiday shopper! With more than 200 vendors, you are sure to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Admission is $3 for adults. Students and children are free. Proceeds from the craft show benefit WC Athletics. Parking for the event will be available for a $1 donation to support the WC Theatre Program.

1st-Quarter Honor Roll
Congratulations to all of our students who were named to our 1st-Quarter Honor Roll! Students are included in the Honor Roll if they earn a grade of B- or higher in each course (based on quarter grades only).
FAFSA Workshops
The GR Promise Zone will be hosting FAFSA workshops during the coming months. Click HERE for a full list of events.
Grand Rapids Promise Zone Update
The GR Promise Zone has partnered with Ferris State and Grand Valley to offer Promise Zone-eligible students a pathway to earn a bachelor’s degree. Once students earn an associate’s degree from GRCC, they are eligible for additional funding at Ferris or GVSU. For full program details, please check out this news release.
Selective Service System
Young men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. If you do not register, you cannot qualify for job training benefits and many state and federal jobs. Don’t get left out! For more information and to register, visit sss.gov.
FAITH & SERVICE
Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass
On Dec. 8, we will be celebrating a special Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception at Holy Spirit Parish (2230 Lake Michigan Dr NW). Mass will begin at approximately 10:20 a.m. Parents/guardians and community members are invited to join us!
Kairos Retreat Signup
Calling all juniors! Signups are open for our 2026 Kairos Retreat! This year’s Kairos Retreat will be March 17-20 at Grace Adventures Retreat Center. Click HERE to fill out an interest form.
2025-26 Adoration
“Could you not pray one hour with me?” Jesus asked his disciples in the garden of Gethsemane. Come join our adoration team and pray one hour each week with Jesus. The vital opportunity will draw you closer to Jesus and ensure that the West Catholic students have the opportunity to go to adoration during the school day. We are especially looking for adorers on Mondays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Tuesdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Fridays between 10 and 11 a.m. Please contact Patti Kohane at pattikohane@att.net or 616-889-5093

Lunch Balances Due
If your student has an outstanding lunch balance, please make sure that it is paid by Monday, Dec. 15. This will be the last day of paid lunches before break.

Jostens Orders
Jostens met with freshmen and seniors to discuss class ring orders and cap/gown orders, along with grad products that can be purchased. Emails were sent to parents as well. Please be use to get your orders in!

We are very excited to announce that the West Catholic Athletic Department has partnered with FinalForms, an online form and data management service. We need volunteers to help in various areas during our upcoming athletic events. This is a great way to support our student-athletes and be part of the game-day energy!
